STOP MINDLESS SCROLLING

If you’re going to scroll, make sure to do it for inspiration, creative ideas, something intentional. You must make a conscious effort to be present in the moment and mindful of your actions in order to put an end to this.

Instagram is focused on quality over quantity. It’s best to publish to your Instagram account no more than once a day, and no more than twice a week. So what is the best practice about the frequency of your posting to help you grow your photography business using Instagram (2022)?

YOU DON’T HAVE TO POST EVERYDAY

How Many Times Should You Post on Instagram Per Week?

Based on our analysis, the more you post on Instagram per week, the greater your overall reach will be. Similarly, posting more typically equals more likes and comments in total.

However, the rate of reach and engagement per individual post varies as more posts are shared — and this changes, even more, depending on how many followers an account has.

  • 1K followers: posting 14 times per week delivers the highest reach and engagement rates per post.
  • 1K-250K followers*: posting 14 or 20 times per week delivers the highest reach rate per post while posting once per week delivers the highest engagement rate per post.
  • 250K+ followers: posting only once per week delivers the highest reach rate and engagement rates per post.

STOP BEING A PERFECTIONIST

If you’re not posting because it’s not perfect, you are losing your audience.

Here are some ideas you could share:

  • Behind-the-scene photos of you ( a wedding or an engagement session shoot )
  • Welcoming new clients
  • Testimonial posts

DON’T POST THEN GHOST

After you post, stick around for 15 – 20 minutes and engage with your peeps. That’s why it’s called SOCIAL media.

A quick tip: Go through your Instagram feed and like and comment on posts, five minutes to look at and engage with the hashtags you follow and use frequently, and a few minutes to check out and react to your story feed.

DON’T POST IN REAL-TIME

If you want to post a picture of yourself with your family on the beach, take a picture and POST IT LATER. Be present with your environment.

HASHTAG LISTS

Hashtags should relate to the image. If they don’t, IG won’t like it. Don’t use pre-made hashtag lists. Here are some wedding photography hashtags that you can use; wedding photography related, your couple’s hashtag, wedding day related ( #weddingday #wedding #realwedding #weddingdetails #weddingflorals ). Style: These hashtags can help you attract your ideal client such as #vintagewedding #rusticwedding #bohowedding. Lastly, location, wedding venues, and your city, state, and other surrounding locations should be included!

POST TO MOVE THE NEEDLE

Testimonials, inspiration, who you are, call to action… don’t post to just post. Be intentional about what your posting. Build a strategy and know your WHY for posting.
