Even though you’re not having a large wedding, elopements do still require a bit of planning. Here are my top 5 tips to help you with planning a Caribbean elopement.

1. Decide on a Location

There are so many beautiful spots in the Caribbean. Browse around before deciding on where exactly you want to marry. Remember, this location will more than likely be your wedding and honeymoon all in one! Look around to make sure the area can accommodate both you and your new spouse!

2. Pick a Date

You’re traveling to the Caribbean, so considering the time of year you’ll be there is a must. If you’re wanting something more private and relaxed, consider going during the offseason. Travel and accommodations will likely be cheaper during this time, too.  Also, the Caribbean has a rainy season and a dry season.  So take this into consideration when picking that perfect date!

3. Check the Law

Make sure you do your legal research before diving into a Caribbean elopement. Each country has its own laws when it comes to marriage. You don’t want to get there only to realize it takes months ahead of time to get your paperwork processed. Avoid that unnecessary stress and take this step early.

4. Research Vendors

Decide which components you want to incorporate into your elopement. Maybe you’re not looking for a grand caterer, but flowers are a must! Since you won’t physically be there beforehand to scout vendors, it’s important to research your options beforehand.

5. Explore

You’re getting married in a beautiful location. It’s only right to explore it! Allow yourselves enough time on your trip to go on adventures as newlyweds. Learn the culture of the country you’re in. Eat the food. Do the dance. Take time to celebrate and explore!
